Material Coordinator/Buyer

Summary:
The Materials Coordinator/Buyer position is responsible for taking ownership of the day-to-day coordinating and purchasing of materials to maintain the material flow throughout the production process. This includes managing inventory levels and purchasing materials related to production schedules while meeting quality, cost and on-time delivery requirements. Salary $23/hour and up depending on experience and qualifications.

Material Coordinator:

  • Receive incoming materials and verify accuracy against purchase orders.

  • Organize and position materials in designated storage areas on the production floor.

  • Maintain materials in outdoor storage area, assuming they’re stacked neatly and protected from weather in best way possible.

  • Keep outdoor storage neat and picked up.

  • Promote utilization of materials before it goes out of condition, through sharing of information with management.

  • Coordinate materials with production schedules.

  • Operate forklift and other material handling equipment in accordance with Enercept’s safety policies and guidelines.

Buyer:

  • Build and maintain a positive rapport with current and new suppliers. Maintain supplier directory.

  • Negotiate the best supplier terms, pricing, and delivery based on specific budget and production schedule requirements. Develop new supply sources.

  • Purchase all inventory items based on production schedules.

  • Responsible for issuing Purchase Orders for all materials.

  • Balance cost of material with quality of material; quality first.

  • Forecast materials, establish, and maintain re-order minimum and maximums.

  • Stay updated (daily) on current cost of OSB and lumber, to include lead times for delivery of these materials.

  • Resolve discrepancies related to invoices, shipments, deliveries and quality issues.

  • Work with drafting to track special materials needed. Source special materials to meet production needs.

  • Monitor inventory levels and reconcile physical inventory records to ensure inventory accuracy.

Job Specific Competencies and Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience: Associate degree or practical experience in inventory/materials coordination or warehouse operations and purchasing experience is preferred. Experience/knowledge of lumber, construction and manufacturing is desired. Must be able to precisely read and understand drawings.

Compensation

$23.00 and up DOE per hour
